| The influx of foreign culture in Nagasaki in the past has resulted in
the development of specialty products. Many foreign foods, whose recipes were
originally brought to Nagasaki, have been redeveloped by Japanese who made them
their own."Shippoku Ryouri” or Shippoku Dish, which is a fine blend of Japanese,
Western and Chinese cooking, epitomizes dishes made in Nagasaki.
"Castella" and "Cas-doce" are confectionery originally developed
in Nagasaki."Chanpon and Sara-udon" which are noodle-type dishes rearranged
from original Chinese foods are still popular even among tourists from China.
Facing the beautiful sea and mountainous areas, Nagasaki Prefecture is also rich
in natural resources. Using these resources, we produce: processed fish products
such as "Kamaboko” (steamed fish paste), processed agricultural products
such as "Soumen (Japanese fine noodle)" which has a large market share
of the Japanese market, and art works such as "Coral Ornament" and "Pearls".
Other important products include traditional art works such as "Vidro (glass
art)", "Hasamiyaki (Hasami Ceramic Ware)" and "Mikawachiyaki
(Mikawachi Ceramic Ware)". The Japanese government has designated both two
wares as Japanese traditional art works. All the art works with their fine designs
and qualities have been developed by skilled artisans. |
